Vogue 1259 (aka...How to drive a math geek insane!)

I tried, I really tried, but man if you make one mistake you're SOL on this thing. It's like a game of twister. The pieces have names like "Front and Back" which is one piece. I think, maybe, sewing this with a fabric that has a distinct right side vs wrong side might help. Or maybe I'm just not suited to sewing things like this. I'm not a very good instruction follower, but this is crazy.

Good luck to those who try but I think this type of stuff will be something I splurge on in RTW. I might consider making the skirt in the future but the shirt...nope, no way!

So sorry that this didn't work out for you...

I've forced myself to stick with the instructions and I keep the paper pattern pinned to the fabric for as long as I can. I'm not a maths whiz but i do tend to assume construction steps and then miss out the obvious instructions. I know. Go figure.
I know you'll work this pattern out. You will.

Oh how frustrating! I'm sorry it's not working out for you - I also hope you can go back to it after a few days and it might make sense. I'll be curious as I'm considering purchasing this pattern.

Bummer! When I am working with fabrics like that, I use small stickers or pieces o of painters tape to keep the right side ID'd. Sounds like a tricky one, though!

Yep, painter's tape with the pattern piece id'ed on the tape....This pattern looks uber complicated however so my hat is off to you for even attempting it.

I call this the "mummy dress" and the design looks pretty complicated. Maybe if you try it again at a later time it may make more sense. You'd definitely look stunning in this!

Hullo! I just finished this dress, and I have to agree, it makes no sense logically AT ALL. If I didn't keep putting it onto my body double I would have sewed so many seams twisted because there's no way to tell. I actually missed a seam because the 'front back' and the 'back front' thing completely threw me off. I was almost done and I'm all, 'this is not going to stay up unless I sew this part to the shoulder.' I have an idea I screwed up, but who can tell, you know? It's wearable, if a little bit weird:)
