I'm in love with Vogue 1220!

I seriously love this dress. It's like the busty girls version of a shirtdress. I can't wear shirtdresses. I look like a box in them but this gives that whole shirtdress vibe but still has some shape. The construction was so much fun, really, it was. I haven't done a Donna Karan pattern before but let me tell you, all the ones from my pattern stash will be pulled out!

I love it so much that I have version two already laid out to cut! There really isn't much I don't like about it. I guess the only thing would be there is some gapiosis at the neckline when you sit. I did bring up the attached fly about an inch or so because of my short waistedness. I could bring it up another inch maybe for the next version. The hem is great even though I had a doh moment with it. I'm very bad at those cut corners but with the pattern of the fabric and the tie or belt covering them, no one but me would notice. If you do it in a solid you'd need to be very mindful to do them nicely.

I folded my tie in half lengthwise and stitched it so it is half the width. I don't need that super wide thing being short waisted nor did I want a big bow. My next version may not even get a tie because the fabric isn't wide enough but a regular belt works fine too.

I plan to do a regular review tomorrow but wanted to get these up tonight.

Great dress! LOVE the pops of red you styled it with. This pattern is begging me to sew it up NOW, just wish the fabric I ordered for it would arrive. :)

Thank you! I love that you all like the red belt and shoes. My DH did not like them at all...lol! But I did, so thanks!

Another great version of this dress. Yours is the first one I have seen in a print. It looks so comfortable and chic. Love the red accessories.

I love your dress and as Audrey said, first time seeing this dress in a print. Your version has convinced me I need to buy this pattern. I really like the contrast red belt and shoes as an optional look with the black/white print.

Great job on this dress. Like the other commenters I love it with the red belt and red shoes. I have this cut out in a sky blue broad cloth and I'm planning to start sewing it up tonight. I have my fingers crossed that I can get those snipped corners just right!

Liz...On the second one I found that if I didn't try to stitch the whole thing at once it worked better. What I mean is I stitched across the first part straight, stopped, then started again with the next part. So, I had two straight lines crossing, instead of trying to make the corner...hope that makes sense!

Vogue Patterns were on sale at JoAnn's for $3.99 today only... I had to go and get this one after seeing this on you! Amazing! I can never wear shirtdresses either, though it doesn't stop me from pining after them... I think this dress will be exactly perfect! Thanks for sharing, you look incredible in it!
