I finally got the fabric I'd been waiting for to make the Vogue 8379 dress for the American Sewing Expo/Pattern Review contest. I ordered it on July 21st so I could make the dress sans kid and husband, also while I was on vacation from work.
So now, the deadline is August 15th, today is the 7th, I have a Flyball tournament all weekend and go back to work next week...ughhh! To say the least I'm frustrated.
Anyway, so the big question is now whether or not I can get a dress done today and during the evenings next week. I still a pretty new sewist and not that I have a chance in hades of winning this contest, I thought it would be fun to enter. I don't, however, want to embarrass myself by entering something crappy that I rushed through to finish...
Decisions...decisions...

If you aren't altering the pattern, it goes together super fast! I did handstitch the hem and the front edges of the skirt foldover facings, but even that didn't take long. One tip: the bodice is a tad-bit short on me, but it's probably because my chest is pulling the fabric up. If you have the same issue, add 1/2" to 1" to bodice length. It's your call, but this dress can come together quickly. Good luck!
